Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 – 3: Belmond Mount Nelson, Cape Town

Following arrival at Cape Town International Airport, transfer to the historic Belmond Mount Nelson hotel in the heart of Cape Town’s city centre to check-in, unpack and relax for the evening. As well as plenty of leisure time to unwind and enjoy the luxury of the grand Belmond Mount Nelson, delight in two fun-filled, jam-packed days of exploring the incredible city of Cape Town.

Enjoy a thrilling full-day Cape Point and Cape Peninsula Tour to view prominent points of interest such as Hout Bay, Cape Point Nature Reserve and Boulders Beach in Simon’s Town, and an informative Table Mountain and Cape Town City Tour which includes a boat ride to Robben Island, a tour of the Bo-Kaap and District Six regions as well as a trip up Table Mountain, weather permitting.

Day 4 – 5: Londolozi Private Game Reserve, Kruger National Park

Depart from Cape Town International Airport for a flight to Skukuza Airport. Upon arrival, transfer to Londolozi Game Reserve. One of the original pioneering private game reserves in South Africa, Londolozi Private Game Reserve is a 14 000-hectare wildlife oasis situated on the banks of the Sand River in the heart of the Sabi Sand Game Reserve.

Enjoy the next two days in this exquisite wilderness paradise, delighting in early morning game drives, nighttime game drives and walking safaris to enjoy exceptional game viewing of the formidable Big Five and other prestigious wildlife. As well as safari experiences, further activities include moonlit bush dinners, bush baths, spa treatments, guided stargazing trips, photographic experiences, bird watching and more.

Day 6: Sheraton Pretoria Hotel, Pretoria

Depart from Londolozi Game Reserve on a charter flight transfer to O.R. Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg. Upon arrival, drive to the Cradle of Humankind World Heritage Site, the world’s richest early hominid site. Here, embark on a guided tour of Maropeng and the Cradle of Humankind and explore the site where around 40% of the world’s known human ancestor fossils were found.

As well as viewing the Homo Naledi exhibition, which details the recent discovery of a new species of early human ancestor, enjoy browsing through other fascinating exhibitions, including displays of skulls, fossils, hunting tools and other artefacts. Embark on a tour of the Sterkfontein Caves, one of the 13 excavated sites in the region, where world-acclaimed fossils have been discovered including the famous ‘Mrs. Ples’, ‘Little Foot, an almost complete Australopithecus skeleton dating back more than 3-million years. Here, enjoy lunch, followed by a guided tour venturing deep down into the underground of the Sterkfontein Caves. Continue to Sheraton Pretoria Hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 7 – 10: Rovos Rail

Transfer from the Sheraton Pretoria Hotel to the Pretoria Station and board the exquisite Rovos Rail. Spend the next two days enjoying the glamour of the luxury rail journey, moving across South Africa to Victoria Falls. While en route, enjoy various stops along the way, including a fabulous game drive.

Day 11: Victoria Falls Hotel, Zimbabwe

After arriving at journey’s end in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, disembark the Rovos Rail and check in to one of Southern Africa’s grandest five-star hotels, the Victoria Falls Hotel. After settling down, enjoy an exhilarating tour of the falls, viewing the astounding drops that range between 295 and 350 feet into the Zambezi Gorge, as well as the fabled mist that has earned this wonder the name Mosi-oa-Tunya or “the smoke that thunders” by the locals. After the Victoria Falls tour, spend the afternoon at leisure, before enjoying a sunset cruise on the Zambezi River. (B, L, D)

Day 12 – 14: Chobe Game Lodge, Botswana

After checking out of the Victoria Falls Hotel, transfer from Zimbabwe to Botswana and arrive at the Chobe Game Lodge. As the only permanent game lodge situated within the famous Chobe National Park, Chobe Game Lodge is Botswana’s premier venue for guests looking for a perfect base from which to explore the National Park and the Chobe River. Over the next two days, enjoy fabulous land or water-based activities and excursions, including early morning and late afternoon game drives, sunrise and sunset cruises and much more. On the final day, transfer to the airport for outbound journey.
