Victoria Falls Hotel

Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe

About Victoria Falls Hotel

Built in 1904 by the British as accommodation for those working on the Cape-to-Cairo railway, the Edwardian-style Victoria Falls Hotel is Zimbabwe’s oldest and grandest hotel.

Guests can nibble cucumber sandwiches and sip G&Ts on expansive manicured lawns, framed by postcard-perfect views of one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World, Victoria Falls, or more endearingly referred to by the locals as Mosi-oa-Tunya, or, the ‘Smoke that Thunders’.

Now over 110 years old, this prestigious hotel in Zimbabwe boasts contemporary amenities whilst retaining its old-world colonial charm. Its symmetrical columns, latticed terraces and black and white tiles see this colossal estate exemplify the grand opulence of a bygone era with abundant charm and exceptional hospitality.

Outside, striped deckchairs and bright bougainvilleas adorn an azure pool, while a private pathway leads directly to the falls, through a humid forest teeming with birds.
