Perfect for the more adventurous, hands-on traveller, the 12-Day Northern Botswana self-drive Safari covers the best regions in Botswana, including various sites along the Okavango Delta, the Zambezi Region (formerly the Caprivi Strip), the Moremi, the Chobe National Park and more. Each night is spent camping in beautiful locations in the African bush.

Filled with plenty of game, bird and plant viewing experiences, the tour also includes a range of varied activities such as water-based safaris, fishing excursions and much more. The self-drive safaris include vehicle hire of fully-kitted 4×4 vehicles that have been customised to suit the terrain.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Maun, Botswana

Begin this incredible adventure with a flight into Botswana, arriving at Maun Airport. Upon arrival, collect the vehicle of choice and stock up on provisions to prepare for the safari.

Day 2 – 3: Moremi Game Reserve, Botswana

Spend the next two days venturing through the beautiful Moremi region of the Okavango Delta. View the incredible game life, flora and fauna of this biodiverse paradise.

Day 4 – 5: Chobe National Park, Botswana

From the beautiful Moremi, set out for Savuti. A long drive but well worth the distance, explore the breathtaking landscapes of this section of the Chobe National Park, admiring the incredible animal, bird and plant life that call this stunning area home.

Day 6 – 7: Chobe riverfront, Botswana

As well as its famous abundance of elephant, Chobe is home to plenty of unique game species. From the Chobe riverfront, enjoy a trip to Kasane and embark on a boat trip to view water-based wildlife from a totally different perspective.

Day 8: Caprivi Strip, Botswana

Depart from the Chobe National Park and cross into the Caprivi Strip. Overnight in Katima Mulilo, a small town situated on the banks of the Zambezi River.

Day 9: Caprivi Strip, Botswana

Continue travelling through the Zambezi Region (formerly the Caprivi Strip), admiring the incredible vistas and life forms of the region. En route, either enjoy a visit to Mudumu and the Mamili National Park on the Kwando River, or, continue to the village of Divundu in the Kavango East region to enjoy a boat cruise, a fishing excursion or to simply relax.

Day 10: Okavango Panhandle, Botswana

A truly breathtaking location in Botswana, the Okavango Panhandle is the main watercourse that supplies the Delta. Here, either enjoy a day of rest and relaxation, delighting in the stillness of the river or enjoying a fishing excursion, or, travel to the historical Tsodilo Hills to see a number of preserved cave paintings.

Day 11: Maun, Botswana

Depart from the Okavango Panhandle and journey back to Maun. Spend a night in a tented bed and breakfast.

Day 12

Depart from Maun Airport for a flight to either Johannesburg or Cape Town.
