Kanga Camp
Mana Pools, Zimbabwe
About Kanga Camp
Located in a secluded private concession in Mana Pools National Park, the camp is built around ancient trees that provide welcome shade from the afternoon sun. In the dry season particularly, the Kanga Pan attracts a wealth of wildlife, with great herds of elephant dropping by for a drink. Kanga Camp’s observation deck extends to the waterhole it overlooks, providing guests with plenty of ‘armchair’ safari opportunities.
Part of a vast wildlife conservation area extending from Lake Kariba in the West to Mozambique in the East and Zambia in the North, animals roam freely between the unfenced lands. Kanga Camp’s guides provide guests with a plethora of ways to explore the bush and the mighty Zambezi River, including daily game drives, walking safaris, canoeing safaris and river cruises.
In the dry season, the flower-strewn floodplains teem with vast herds of buffalo and elephant, with eager egrets flitting between them to catch flies. Game drives explore the Zambezi’s riverine areas and woodlands, where opportunistic elephant bulls are frequently found balancing on their hind legs beneath the Albida trees to reach the tantalising seed pods that lie just out of reach. Mana Pools is known for its formidable elephant bulls the behemoths that Kanga Camp’s guides often know by name.
Why We Love Kanga Camp
- Located on Mana Pool’s only private wilderness concession, the sole neighbours are the elephants, making visits a special, intimate experience.
- The observation deck’s prime position over the waterhole means guests don’t need to go anywhere to view game… the wildlife comes to them.
- A delightful experience for those seeking a romantic escape, couples can spend the night on the star deck, a large base built directly into the tree canopy, to enjoy wining, dining and sleeping under the stars.
