About Little Kulala Lodge

Resting on the dry Auob riverbed in the Kulala Wilderness Reserve, Little Kulala Lodge is a luxurious, five-star paradise in the heart of the Namibian desert.

With stark gravel plains and sand filled expanses that stretch far out to the Naukluft Mountains, the immediate landscape surrounding Little Kulala Lodge is a sight to behold. Guests can enjoy exploring the surrounding desert either by vehicle, on foot, on horseback or in a hot air balloon.

Eleven climate-controlled ‘kulalas’ (a word that means ‘to sleep’) have been designed with neutral tones and wood finishes to mirror the aesthetic of the surrounding desert. Each kulala comes complete with a private plunge pool and Star Bed.

A number of unique activities await guests staying at Little Kulala. As well as exploring both the Sossusvlei and Dead Vlei pans, guests can also visit the fascinating Sesriem Canyon.

Why We Love Little Kulala Lodge

  • With no light pollution, the Namib is known for perfectly clear night skies. Guests can enjoy amazing stargazing experiences with telescopes supplied by Kulala desert lodge, while guides point out constellations.
  • The Star Bed takes full advantage of the Namib’s clear night sky, allowing guests to fall asleep under a canopy of stars while listening to the sounds of the desert.
  • A bewildering experience at Little Kulala Lodge is the nighttime scorpion tracking. Here, guests follow a guide who tracks and illuminates scorpions who glow in fluorescent colors under UV lights.
